Tide lands second commitment of the day

This morning brought encouraging news as 4-star OL Barrett Jones committed to the Alabama.  However, Jones wasn’t the only one feeling the Bama fever.  Alabama received it’s first verbal commitment for the 2009 recruiting class as Biloxi, MS star defensive tackle DJ Fluker announced this afternoon.  Fluker, 6′7″ 325 lbs. man child, is regarded as one of the South’s top prospects for the 2009 class.  Welcome aboard DJ and Roll Tide!

I don’t really know how to comment on this story or how to introduce it or anything. I’m frankly stunned. It involves UT center Josh McNeil and three underage drunk college girls in his bedroom. That’s all I’m going to say. I honestly can’t put these pieces of the puzzle together.

But Josh isn’t in trouble, so HIGH-FIVE!!! This is the height of hilarity.

Since nobody can explain what happened, let’s have a contest. I would like for you guys to respond with your idea of how things got the way they were. This should be fun — not like “fun” at Josh McNeil’s crib, obviously, but fun nonetheless.

ECS offensive line star chooses Tide : Preps : Commercial Appeal

The #1 rated player in the state of Tennessee and the #9 offensive tackle prospect in the nation (both according to Rivals), Barrett Jones has committed to Alabama. This isn’t a huge surprise. He’s been considered a Bama lean for a while. His father played basketball for the Tide.

“Jones, who had whittled his final five to Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee and Vanderbilt from an original list of 28 scholarship offers, made an unofficial visit to Tuscaloosa over the weekend for the Tide’s home game against LSU.

“(Alabama) coach (Nick) Saban said he was extremely happy about my decision,” Jones said. “He told me that I am an important part of this class because I have the ability, character and leadership to help build a great team. I am determined to do everything possible to live up to his expectations.”"
