Let me start by saying its great to be a Tennessee Vol. I happened to be lucky enough to attend the game this weekend, and you could say I was satisfied with our performance. As you’ll see from my pictures I had excellent seats, and got great close-ups of ”Mr. Heisman Trophy,” because he rarely left the sidelines. Then again he probably didn’t want to leave the sidelines to go against that bruising defense. It was a great day for football, and there is no place in the world I would rather watch it.
Here are the pictures.
A look at Neyland from across the river. That was a cold walk.

Oh Yeah!! We got the Dave’s.

Running through the T.
If you look closely you can actually see the pee running down his leg.
Its football time in Tennessee!!
The accumulation of greatness inside Neyland Stadium is a bit overwhelming.
Is it me or was it a bit nipply out there for those uniforms. One thing is for sure, I need a camera with better zoom capabilities.
Wildcat, Wildhawg, whatever they want to call it Tennessee was ready to shut it down.
McFadden on the sidelines where he was most of the game. He was completely shut down the first three quarters. Sure he got his meaningless yards in the fourth, but as Jerod Mayo said,”he wasn’t going to win the Heisman Trophy in Neyland Stadium.”
Victory Formation. Its officially over.
Fulmer saved his job, and won back the love of Vol Nation. Houston Nutt will have to keep looking at “Fire Houston Nutt” banners flying over Arkansas for the rest of their home games.
A little bit different outcome than the experts thought. Its time to start taking this team for real.

Great pictures! They bring back a lot of memories of good times on Rocky Top. Thanks for sharing them with us. GO VOLS!
Not taking anything away from your win, but how special is Darren McFadden when a team is bragging regarding a player they “held” to over 120 yards and who averaged 5.1 ypc. I know that’s not a lot for him, but good grief, that’s an impressive number against any defense.
Great shots — Neyland is one of the roadtrips I always wanted to take (but never did). You really captured it, though.
Thanks. I should have gotten more photos of the pregame festivities, but I didn’t get there in time for the Volwalk, or to take pictures of fans tailgating. Besides that I think it turned out okay.
Sniff, sniff. Those are beautiful. McFadden is great, but nearly 30 of those yards came on two runs against second-teamers early in the fourth. Still, nothing taken away from him. Great player. We just bottled him up most of the day. First half numbers? They had 1 first down. We had 13. They had 81 total first-half yards.
Not bragging too much, but it was total domination.
Those are some seriously fantastic pictures. the sun setting on rocky top is beautiful.
Well Siran…MSU…looks like you guys have got us…MSU…I mean wow that was total domination…MSU…that you guys threw on us…Croomed…thanks for reminding us…
;-]
TFInTN #2 - And wait did it not take a last second TD to win against Arky? Man we really must suck then…how many yds did DMac have against your D? Let me refresh your memory…195yds/33 carries = 5.99 yds/carry…but hey you guys did dominate us…so I will just shut my trap. ;-]
BTW Ghost love the pics…
Loving the pics! Some damn awesome shots. Wish I could have been there.
Isn’t the moratorium on how long before the losing team can act superior more than four weeks? I’m pretty sure it is. Feel free to mention MSU, though. I’m not sure what should be more embarrassing: that we lost to them, or that they did what Tennessee couldn’t even come remotely close to doing. Especially if you consider that JPW spotted them 7 and they won by 5. I guess at this point I can expect the rain of UT fans that actually believe they would win if we played again. Sorry kids, you want a mulligan then play golf.
TFInTN..true…4 weeks…
Not trying to act “superior”, I was just trying to help the Bama fans keep everything in perspective. As far as playing again, you played a complete game against us and we played one against Jawja, so if we did replay again…dunno…anything can and will happen.
I can tell you what won’t happen. Replaying again. Dreaming of replays is generally what the loser does. Tennessee has no excuse other than quality of the team for the way they played against Alabama. You can analyze that and figure out what Tennessee did wrong, but nothing happened in that game that indicated it wouldn’t be repeated. DJ Hall goes off for a huge game? He’s done it for four years now. He practically built his career against Tennessee.
Well…”but nothing happened in that game that indicated it wouldn’t be repeated” that can be true of both teams throughout this year.
Bama, like UT have been Jekyll and Hyde teams this year, you just cannot say (with any degree of certainty) it would turn out the same, it is not possible, some characteristics like coaching would be somewhat the same, but the players are the wildcard (as most 18-22 yr olds are apt to be).
I mean, you whipped us, we whipped Jawja, you guys lost to Jawja, you beat Arky, we beat them somewhat handily, what does all this mean…nothing, any given Saturday both UT and Bama can look like world beaters or Div IIa dogs…perspective.
Re: DJ Hall…sheesh won’t he graduate already (of course you will have an even bigger stud committing soon…oh hell’s bells…)
This is hilarious.
All we do is relish a win, make one comment about Bama losing and post a few pictures on a big win that nobody in orange expected, and we’re called a bunch of “losers” by classless Bama fans.
Not only that — thanks Siran, you’re intelligence level gleams — but our very own TideFan comes in swinging about us being losers and not getting a “do-over.” Well, I’d love to play Bama again, but it’s not going to happen.
That’s not Tennessee’s fault.
So far at least, the Vols are doing their part for that rematch that isn’t going to happen. And, again, I stress, with players as young as UT has, a three-loss season — if it happens — would be an amazing job. Four losses? That’s about a little worse than I’d hoped.
But I’ll take where UT is over where Bama is, TYVM.
And to think, like I said in my initial postgame post, I was going to be CORDIAL this week. Siran ruined that.
“Dreaming of replays is generally what the loser does.”
Tennessee may be done losing after that Bama game. Who knows?
One thing we do know: Bama still had losing to do … and may yet.
Umm…Ghost? Read all the posts. What started all this was me making a comment of how good McFadden is when a team can celebrate holding him to more than 5 yards per carry. It’s a compliment to McFadden, not a knock on anyone at all. At that point, the comments about MSU (which was not a part of the post) come in to imply that Tennessee is better than Alabama. Keep in mind, we won. We won big. We made 100% of Vols fans (particularly the ones on here) want to fire the coach that they now think is solid gold. Keep in mind, the Arkansas team you didn’t think you could beat has a losing record in the SEC and has a realistic chance to finish without a bowl bid. If you want to mock the Tide for their performance this season, then you aren’t protected from the obvious.
geek, by your same reasoning, Vol fans can’t say that it wouldn’t turn out the same.
Ummm, TideFan? I read all the posts. I saw where geekvol made a couple of MSU references, and that’s about it. But I think calling us “losers” is hardly the way of going about smacktalking. LOL. We’re in a much better position that you guys despite the Third Saturday.
Don’t get me wrong. I’d love to have that game back. But it’s not going to happen. I realize this. Tennessee’s doing it’s part so far for that “rematch” that’s not going to happen.
I’m pretty pleased with our position. Regardless of what happened at Cal and Florida, the Bama game is the only thing separating this season from being a success. We can’t have that back. But the Vols are hardly “losers.”
That depth you guys whine and point to when it comes to Bama? We don’t have it, either.
Maybe you guys will regroup for Monroe. We’ve got a tough one this week. So, I’ll reserve all my comparisons until after the season.
But what is hilarious to me is UT could go 11-3 and Bama lose five or six games, and all of you guys would STILL think you’re better because of one game in a schizo season.
Bama still has losing to do? How do you “know?” It’s not like Auburn has been the picture of consistency this season. If anything the statistics (and I’ll go ahead and say it for you–stats mean less than nothing in a season like this) indicate Bama beats them, and we’ll get a second-tier bowl bid against a team from a non-SEC conference. There might be 10 teams in the country that can beat the top 8 teams in the SEC, and none of those teams will be playing Alabama in a bowl. We’ll finish at 9-4. and I “know” that just as much as you “know” that Tennessee is done losing.
I said that wanting a replay is what the loser does. Tennessee lost to Alabama. Google it. It’s true. The winner doesn’t want a replay. The winner got it done. In the case of the 3rd Saturday in October, Tennessee was the loser. You might not like the word, but it’s true.
The difference on the depth issue is that we fired the guy who’s to blame for our depth problem.
My MSU references were directed at one poster…Siran Stacy and his ummm…comments. I was just trying to get him to as some people say, act like you been there before.
CD…yes I think it could turn out the same, it could turn out to be a blowout the other way…you just don’t know…I don’t know, in reality we won’t know until next year.
TFInTN…CPF golden…hardly. Ask my bro-in-law (huge Bama fan) what I say about CPF, golden would not be what comes to mind. Yes Arky has a losing record, however they have the “best” running tandem in the US, and it was nice we put another game together and beat Arky, regardless of how bad they are.
Read my post, TideFan. I said one thing WE DO KNOW: Bama HAD losing to do after the Tennessee game. They lost. MSU beat them. HAD is the past tense of HAS.
Have I said anything bowing down to Fulmer??? I’ve accepted he’s here to stay. Like I said, I’ll support him like I’ll support President Bush.
Just to point out, Jones is actually having a more productive season on a down to down basis than McFadden (not saying he’s better) mostly due to a good rotation. Jones only got 3 carries.
As for CPF being golden, I was really referring more to VTTW’s comments about him winning back the Vol Nation. I should not have implied that 100% of fans are behind him. No coach has that kind of support.
Thanks for the grammar lesson. I did misread that. You are correct. In hindsight, Bama would still lose games.
TFInTN…understand, I think McFadden has NFL’itis and only turns it on when he wants and not when the team needs it. Of course he is handicapped by his head coach (sounds hauntingly familiar) and the play calling, and those annoying planes with the “Fire Nutt” banners… ;-]
Thank YOU, TideFan. I was not at the UT game or anything. I did not realize that Jones only got three carries because UT injured him. Didn’t realize that.
It’s amazing to me that UT can do an amazing job against an amazing running back and be short-changed by Alabama fans.
I don’t think I need to say anything else. You’ve said it for me.
And I believed MSU would beat Bama just like I believe Auburn will. That should be a good game. If I weren’t going to Lexington, I’d say that’d be one of the best second-rate games of the day, importance-wise.
Nice dig on the Iron Bowl. It doesn’t have a even a little bit of importance outside of the fans. It won’t affect the conference, it probably won’t even affect bowl alignment. In fact, the only thing it will affect is my blood pressure, and the size of Tubs’ new contract, wherever that may be.
Please, please, please reread my comment on McFadden. It was to say that he is amazing because the truth is it’s an amazing job when a team can hold him to a ypc average that every running back in the country would like to have. Congrats to UT for beating Arkansas. I, like almost every UT fan, didn’t think you would do it. I also didn’t think Jones would only get 3 carries. The reason for it doesn’t matter.
As far as sizing up wins, this year more than any in my lifetime, comparing your record against the same opponent is pretty much an exercise in futility this season. Especially when there are only two teams in the league with fewer than three losses, and one of those teams is currently behind a three loss team for the right to go to Atlanta. Based on head to head stats, Tennessee should have beaten Alabama pretty soundly. Or Alabama should have beaten UGA. Or UGA should have beaten USC, or Florida should have beaten LSU, or everyone should have beaten Miss State. But none of that happened. All that matters is what happens on the one day you play each other.
I think UT is lucky they don’t have to play UGA again. No doubt, that game would have a different outcome.
Much like Bama is lucky they don’t have to play UT again.
But TideFan, your point is well-taken. This year, who knows? I mean, UT may lose to Bama again by 24. Georgia may lose to UT again by 21. Vandy may beat UT by two touchdowns. Auburn may run Bama out of the stadium. Vice versa.
It’s just a crazy, crazy season.
Must I really respond to someone who says I questioned his “inteligense.” Sigh.
For what it’s worth, Siran, I’m glad to have you here. I never questioned your intelligence seriously. I’m sure you’re a smart rabble-rouser. It’s how you roll. I get that. You’re a narrow-minded Bammer. There are fair Bammers, and there are Bammers who are optimistic, and then there are Bammers like you. I live around them. Heck, I married into them. I get it. There’s no reason to get hateful.
I’m glad you’re here. Keep posting, please. We can co-exist. And, believe me, Siran, every post I make has an end result. I’m schizophrenic for a reason, I can assure you. Keep them coming back for more, I always say.
So, keep on coming by. I like reading what you have to say. I always enjoy reading inteligense posters like yourself.
Wow Siran, the view from up there must be wonderful…
Is it tough to be all “high and mighty” when you get croomed…how many years is that now?
Oh yes, lest I forget we were dominated, you are right.
“not beat us again”…we will see that is why the game is played.
BTW Ghost…I feel your pain, I work/live around people like SS, they are “super” aren’t they…
;-]
The whole “super” thing goes both ways, guys. Bama fans like myself that live in Tennessee aren’t exactly “livin’ the dream.”
TFInTN…true…”livin the dream”…lmao…
