Look, I dig Thanksgiving.
I’m a big fan of God, and I love giving thanks for all He has given me. I love hanging out with family, gorging out and watching football. I always think the sadness of who’s gone from family reunions is outweighed by the happiness of the ones who are there.
But I never understood the big deal with turkey. I mean, what the heck?? It’s poor man’s chicken. Dressing? That’s the real star of Thanksgiving. Dressing is the bomb. I mean, why do we not eat this more than once or twice a year? Come on, people. We need to ramp up the importance of dressing. That’s the food that puts meat on your bones, not the meat. That’s why we go back for seconds. The dressing!!

Anyway, there is a monster, monster weekend of college football in a couple days, and we have — in my humble opinion — dropped the ball here at 3SIB.
It’s freakin’ IRON BOWL week! Alabama accounts for probably 70 percent of our readership, and what have we done? We’ve lamented/wisecracked the ULM loss and criticized/heralded Nick Saban for his now infamous 9/11-Pearl Harbor comments.
It’s obvious on this blogsite that our meal ticket is UT/UA week (God rest it’s soul), but on the second-biggest week of the year, where is our principle Tide writer?? Visiting in-laws and out-of-pocket. Thankfully, TideFan has picked up the slack somewhat, but the last time Boomtown wrote anything of any significance was during the Reagan administration.
So, I wanted to give you guys a quick (yeah, right. nothing’s quick when I write it) little preview of this weekend, including a touch about that second-rate game down on the Plains.
The way things have shaken out, this is perhaps the most important weekend of the season. And that’s despite the Florida-Florida State and Alabama-Auburn games being on the insignificant side. Who’d have thunk it?
Without further adieu, here is this weekend’s viewer’s guide, and remember, I absolutely suck at picking games, so just pay attention to the free-gift game schedule and probably just ignore my prognostications:
