It’s so very easy for us to get caught up in our Orange or Crimson or Red-and-Black or Blue-and-Orange propaganda.
It’s so very easy to hate players because of the colors they wear when it should be just hating the colors and not the players themselves.
Case in point: Tim Tebow comes across to me as an arrogant pretty boy who is a walking fireball of intensity. He also quarterbacks the Florida Gators, whom I hate nearly as much as Alabama.
Case in point: John Parker Wilson is the quarterback of Alabama. Nuff said. He draws my ire for that reason only.
I’m sure some Bama fans feel the same about Erik Ainge.
But after this article, I have a newfound respect for them. I decided to link it, because we should all learn something from this and about these guys.

Gosh…I really didn’t want to like Tebow, but now I have a whole new respect for him. I still hope we rip his arm off when we play them next year…but this is great to hear!
This isn’t entirely surprising to me, and I’ve had a reverent fear of Tebow since last year (which has only increased this year). Many of the UT athletes I met while I was in Knoxville were not only confident in their abilities, but also humble in the gifts God had given them. It’s great to see that conference-wide. Thanks for linking this.
Nice. I never would have seen that otherwise, so thanks for posting. How Tebow ended up in Gainesville is the mystery of the age.
Most people lose sight of the fact that these players are real people who are sons, grandsons and brothers. They aren’t cyborgs bred to satisfy the football gods. I was at the LSU/Florida game and Tebow is an animal. Not because of his evident ability but because of his heart. He never gives up. Keeps comin’ at you. It’s wonderful to see so many young men involved in FCA and Christian activities. While I’m sure they’re not all saints, if they can help one other young person through their witness, their path is paved.
