7:55- Almost game time. Eric Gordon is decent at best. He would probably be better if he ever worked out. Maybe then he could lose the t-shirt as well. Maybe I just associate the t-shirt under the jersey with bad basketball because thats what we used to wear.
7:58- Watching the game with a fellow Tennessee fan Chase, and a Bammer that roots against everything orange, Run in the Mud. We better win this game after all the bragging I’ve done these last two days or I’ll never here the end of it. I made the prediction we would pull this one out, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they beat us, at all.
8:00- Just watched the pep rally speech by Pearl before the Memphis game, so I’m ready to go, hopefully the team is too.
8:10- Terrible start. We got to start guarding Foster or were going to get killed.
8:17- We look flat. Lazy on defense, and not guarding the perimeter at all.
8:19- This gym really takes away the Pearl factor. Someone give that man a megaphone. I hate this place.
8:21- 20-9. About the worst start we could hope for. At this point I would give us a 25% chance of winning this game. This is such a trap game for the Vols and it looks like we’re caught in it.
8:25- Pearl just got a technical foul for arguing an obviously terrible call. If he’s not careful he may get the boot. Maybe he’s trying to pull a Lou Pinella to get a rise out of our players, we certainly need it.
8 :31- They’re getting it to the big men and its working. 24-12.
8:34- (Chase)- “Always great to hear the bullsh** cheer on national television. Especially when its the top college in the South doing it.”
8:35- Lofton needs five 3’s a game to catch Reddick. That’s three tonight. 24-17.
8:37- Vandy finally went cold. I’m starting to feel better about our chances. As long we hang in there in the first half we should fare better in the second half when we get the Pearl factor back, at least on offense.
8:39- Commercial break: Roger Clemens has been caught in yet another lie. Who would have thought that telling jokes about his wife and Canseco’s wife comparing boob-jobs would be the thing that ultimately took him down.
8:41- Chism has already got three fouls, but Ogilvy has three as well. The way Chism has been playing so far, advantage Tennessee.
8:42- Jajaun Smith from nearly half-court!!!! Wow!! That was Lofton-like from last year’s Vandy game. Our shot selection has not been very good as of late, but if we can drain them from there, who cares?
8:44- Jay Cutler in the house tonight (No, not the body builder). With that swoop hair-do and low I.Q., why did Bama not recruit that guy?
8:46- J.P. Prince following up a career performance against Memphis by getting his sh!# thrown every time he takes it to the rack, and getting hit in the face with the ball because he’s not paying attention when his teammates pass it to him. Prince can do pretty much anything he wants after those two big free throws at the end of the Memphis game, but he should at least pay attention when he’s on the court.
8:49- Some fat rich boy fan just talked smack to Tyler Smith. That’s probably not a good idea, Tyler was raised in Pulaski.
8:56- Neltner just tackled Jajuan Smith’s head “trying to get the ball” after timeout had already been called. Nice.
9:00- Halftime. Its a minor miracle were only down by three. I like our chances in the second half, but who knows at this point. We have to get something going on offense, and stay out of foul trouble to pull this one out.
9:18- We’re back from halftime and both teams are on fire. Tyler slams one home, Foster hits a three, Lofton follows suit and then shows the driving ability that made him great last year. We’re in the lead. 36-35.
9:21- Ramar Smith just ran with the ball, and there was no call. They’re letting them play tonight…Stallings just got a technical foul. Both coaches are really complaining about the officiating tonight, and I can’t say I blame them. Lofton hits both of the technical foul shots. 41-38.
9:26- Ogilvy has four fouls. Great news for Tennessee. That kid is really good.
9:30- What does Mike Leach have to do with this game, and why is he singing? Can we get back to the game please.
9:33- Big Country, Metcalf, drains the three 43-46 Vandy.
9:37- Ramar steps up to the line and hits one of two. Free throws are really killing us tonight. 44-48 Vandy. At least Vandy is getting in a lot of foul trouble…The press is on, maybe they will fold.
9:41: Lofton is really on fire tonight. Six threes on the night and 26 points. He may need 40 for us to win this one. Lookout Reddick.
9:48: Still down by four with Prince at the line. I’m not worried yet, but I am definitely concerned…Great the announcers are breaking down our half-court offense. Why not break down Prince and Chism’s free throw shooting, SEC officiating, Vandy’s out of conference schedule, or other things that suck. 55-51 Vandy.
9:58: We just got a shot clock penalty even though Lofton bricked one with five seconds left on the shot clock. Outstanding officiating guys…Apparently if was off Tennessee anyway. I couldn’t tell, but oh well.
10:03- 61-53. I’m officially worried.
10:06- Terrible shot selection by Chism and Lofton on two three’s. 64-58 Vandy. We need a miracle. Pearl is a miracle maker, make it happen Bruce. 3:45 to go.
10:12- Big shot by Tyler, who is becoming known for his late game heroics. 66-60 Vandy…Mythical foul on Jajuan, terrible call.
10:14- Ramar Smith to the line for two big free throws. Misses the first one…..misses the second. We may be done.
10:16- Prince to the line. Down 69-62. Got to make these….Nails the first one….hits the second. HUGE!!!!!!69-65, 1:28 to go. I take back everything I said about Prince’s free throw shooting ability. He’s clutch when he needs to be, just like Memphis (according to Calapari).
10:23- 14 seconds to go. Shan(e) Foster to the line down by three. Its all but over…Hits them both.
10:26- Chism slams it home, but we’re still down by three with 7 seconds to go. Got to make the steal on the in-bounds pass or its over.
10:28- Its over. Good game by Vandy. At least we can take comfort in the fact that this game means nothing in the grand scheme of things. However, it still feels almost as bad as when we got put out of the tournament last year by Ohio State. Hopefully, this loss will help us in the end. Sure would be nice to play a team like Bama after a hard fought game like we had with Memphis, but you can’t play them every week.

Welcome to the club of teams to lose their first game as #1. Mark Gottfried has kept the seat next to him warm for just such an occasion.
Sigh. Unfortunately, this was the perfect game for an upset. What a two-game stretch.
Great job, VttW. The spelling of Shan Foster’s name bothers me. The officials let them play TOO much and called tons of ticky-tack fouls. I don’t understand that philosophy.
I laughed out loud at the Vince Gill/Mike Leach comment. Nice catch there.
GBO!
