With the Masters going on this weekend, we here at 3SIB thought we’d give you guys the best-looking girl in sports for a Goodies post. The LPGA’s Natalie Gulbis is America’s sweetheart, and unlike Anna Kournikova, she’s actually talented and good looking.
Sure, she has taken pictures for FHM and Maxim and plenty of men’s magazines, but we’re not about that here. You know that. So, we gave you a classy shot of Ms. Gulbis. Hope you enjoy the package of goodies.
One more thing: I’ll be the first to apologize to all of you guys about our (lack of) writing the past few weeks. Between vacations, college exams for a few of us, a heavy recent workload, the start of baseball season, the end-of-a-banner-year hangover with the Vols basketball team, apathetic readership and generally not a ton to talk about, we’ve taken some battery-recharging time. Hopefully, by next week, we’ll be back on the track of providing daily info. Here are some links …
- Tennessee students now will have to pay for football tickets. Ah, shut up, kids. It’s the same thing as an activity fee. Jeez.
- Well, here it is: Jonathan Crompton will be our quarterback. Now that it’s been set in stone by the big man, let’s rally behind the Mountain Missile. The kid grew up wanting to be a Vol, and when he got the chance against LSU two years ago, he didn’t disappoint. People forget that three years ago, he was the No. 3 quarterback in the country who everybody wanted, everybody offered and we got. He will be fine. I hope. More juicy tidbits in this notebook talk about fullback David Holbert’s surgery and the near-reintroduction of the G-Gun package.
- Speaking of Crompton, I gulped aloud when I read this. I’m sorry, but anytime your starting quarterback is having surgery. On his elbow. On his throwing arm. It’s not “minor.”
- OK, I’ll admit it. I’m a bad person. We have not had Word One on our blog about the Lady Vols winning the national championship. Pat Summitt is amazing, and this team was one of the best defending teams I’d ever witnessed in women’s basketball. There is simply no excuse for not commending them, so here’s a links package on its own from Govolsxtra.com to make up for it. Sort of. Here and here are a couple of jewels.
- OK, I laughed out loud at this. Great job, Joel!
- Bama expecting more thousands to witness Mediocrity Personified.
- Hey! It’s not quite the Third Saturday in October, but the Second Weekend of April is not only known for the Masters this year: The Vols and Tide meet in baseball this weekend. Mobile’s Gentry Estes gets us in the mood with a great feature on Vols freshman phenom and Mobile native Kentrail Davis.
- Call me a sucker, but when it comes to the Masters, I love amateurs. From Casey Wittenberg to Luke List to … Alabama golfer and Katrina transplant Michael Thompson, who was displaced from Tulane, I pull for those guys. Just don’t expect to yell Roll T***. Go get em, Mike!
- We’d just better forget about Montario Hardesty being dependable. Gotta feel bad for the kid.
- I’d love one of these — to crush with a hobnail boot.
- The death of a Central Florida football player may have George O’Leary in hot water. (HT: EDSBS.com)
- If you love the Vols — and you love recruiting — sign up at FanU.com, look for nycvol and add him as a friend. Then, read his Vols recruiting updates that are supposed to start later today. This kid posted on volquest, but now, his reports — gleaned from reading hours and hours worth of Rivals and Scout pages and compiling information — are comprehensive and orange-colored. Whether they’re all true or not, they’re good reads. Also, he doesn’t disguise the info as his own. He’s just making it where you don’t have to do the research.
- Listening a lot to The Black Keys these days. Check these guys out if you love blues.
- I’ll close with my hopeful for Augusta, Brandt Snedeker. You see “Vanderbilt grad.” I see “Tennessean.” And I know Brandt personally, and he’s a good dude and a great golfer. SEC! SEC!
