Adios! Jimmy Johns arrested on cocaine charges

Well, if you were still worried about scholly numbers, they are steadily decreasing.  Earlier this morning Alabama lost another LB (most likely) to cocaine charges according to this story from a fox news affiliate in B’ham.  He was arrested around 8:30 this morning and charged with distribution and one count of possession of cocaine.

How stupid do you have to be?  You are a senior that’s supposed to be a leader like you have claimed to be for two years now.  You basically have thrown your football days down the drain, and possibly your future down the drain too.  I just don’t understand these guys sometimes,  especially Jimmy Johns.  Alcohol maybe.  I could even see marijuana, but as Richard Pryor would say, “Cocaine is one hell of a drug.”

This is the last thing the UA Football program needs.  How selfish do you have to be?  I mean, they don’t pull these charges out of thin air, so I’m certain there is a lot of truth to it.  If you are found guilty (which is very, very likely) then I’ll speak for all Alabama fans and say that we don’t want you on the team anymore.  I understand that you are a young athlete that makes mistakes.  It happens all the time, but cocaine charges?  I’m speechless.  So much for learning that new LB position and finally making an impact on the field.  Yeah, you have no one to blame but yourself for this one.  Shula isn’t here anymore.  This was just ignorance, Jimmy…plain and simple.

So what does this mean for Alabama?  Well, I didn’t really consider Jimmy Johns to play a major role this season at LB.  If he was, then this just opens up more playing time for a freshman at LB.  Let’s just hope no other players were in on this.

I really hope you straighten your life out.  At this point, football is irrelevant for you.  We still are going to care about you as a person because you have represented our proud University in one way or another, but this is unacceptable.  I hope you learn from this mistake and hopefully finish your degree one day.  You’ll need all the help you can get.

Another thing that’s just as sad are the rivals who will get some perverse pleasure out of this. Believe me, we see it all the time at UT.

I hope he straightens things out, but this is a HUGE deal. Tragic. What a waste of an immense talent and a waste of a career.

JJ is charged with 5 counts of distribution and 1 of possession. Distribution counts could carry minimum 3 years each. Bond’s at $120,000. He’s in big big trouble.

Congratulations, Pacman Johns…What were you thinking? Honestly? I cannot think of a less worthy way to waste your talents than to infect our society with addictive drugs. I can’t say that I am mad at Jimmy “Pacman” Johns so much as I am disappointed in his character. I always thought this guy had an attitude, but to sell illegal drugs….WOW. I hope he straightens out his life, but for now…GET THE HELL OFF OF MY TEAM!

The amazing thing about this is that the 5 charges apparently occured on 5 separate occasions.

I guess we finally know why he loved contact, acted psycho on the field, constantly racked up dumb personal fouls, etc.

Apparently, this was pretty heavily investigated with no indication that anyone else on the team was involved. But cocaine AND Ecstasy. Nice. Real nice.

And the amazing thing isn’t that cops bought from him on 5 separate occasions. They bought coke from him on 5 separate occasions over the course of a week and a half.

I hope he gets himself straightened out, but this is an incredibly stupid thing he’s done.

Great comments, ghostofneyland. I may have to stop putting pins in my Phil Fulmer voodoo doll in your honor.

All I can add is the meme: Cocaine is a helluva drug.

Not only has he wasted his God-given talents, but he also has a child that will now be father-less for a long, long time.

I think he was just stupid and didn’t understand it when Saban demanded better play between the “white lines!”

I appreciate the kind words, but as far as being “classy,” I just hope that I’m being human about this.

You know, I’ve thought about this a lot the past couple of days, and of course I’m sure as an Alabama fan (it feels grimy putting myself in those shoes), the first feeling is relief that nobody else was involved. The second feeling is anger that this happened and he’s bringing this kind of publicity to the Tide. (Because, trust me, I know that when UT or UA get in any trouble, it’ll be plastered on the front page of ESPN and everywhere else rather than buried like at UF or UGA. That’s not sour grapes, just the truth. Go look it up if you don’t believe me.)

But now, I think that we should all move on to sadness or frustration to go along with anger. The kid thing I didn’t know about. That makes it infinitely worse. It’s just a gut punch, really. But also look at the fact that this is a 21-year-old whose life is wasted. I mean, we’re looking at AT LEAST 18 years in prison. It pretty much ruins the opportunity of a family or a normal life or any respectability or anything. It’s really just sad.

Talk all you want about linebacker depth or scholarships (Not knocking you, CK, because I know that the lead-in was spinning it forward) but this is so, so, so much more than that. Beyond football and beyond Alabama and Tennessee and the rivalry and everything, this is just a devastating situation.

I agree it’s more than football Ghost, but from an Alabama aspect it is about depth and scholarships. Is also about representing the University of Alabama. What he did reflects UA. We don’t stand for that. So, in a sense it is about numbers and scholarships, because there is no room for mistakes like this. I know the guy is gone for a while, and I hate it for him, but that was his choice and he chose to do it the wrong way. Now he’s paying the price and just another number anyway. I might seem harsh, but I’m not cutting him any slack. You said to be firm and I did and will continue to be. I don’t stand for this crap and neither does UA. So I take it personally.

I really hope he finds himself, though. I’m not completely heartless, but he deserves what he gets. I hope he can rebound when his time is up and possibly turn is life around. I’ll root him on in life, but I hope to God he never, ever steps foot on UA’s campus again.

They’ll offer him a deal to roll over on his sources. That’s standard procedure. He’ll do it because he’s looking at some serious time and maybe one of the guys he drops the dime on will get to him. Pay back is a bitch.

    T-town is pretty cool. Streetwise!
